Remarkable Testimony!
Eric the Chef, (a Frenchman) was severely beaten up in his flat in Salisbury back in March 2004. Dave and I have known Eric for about 7 years. He used to come to church with us both at City Gate and Shaftesbury and stayed with Dave when Dave was living in Shaftesbury.
When we were working in Southampton we lost touch with Eric, but just before Christmas I said to Dave I wonder what’s happened to Eric, I knew he had gone back to France for a while. We started praying for him and within two weeks we spotted

him in Salisbury, we were in the car and too far away, but we prayed we would see him again. Within a week we met him not far from Endless Life Cafe. We took him for a coffee, had a great time catching up, and he asked about coming to church with us, which we arranged, but as he works until the early hours of the morning he overslept a couple of times.
Anyway in March we heard that he had been severely beaten up and was in intensive care. We visited him about three or four days after he had been admitted. He was on a life support machine, the doctors said he was unrecognisable when he was admitted. His kidneys had failed and his lungs collapsed, as well as very bad bruising and broken bones. They only gave him a very slim chance of survival if that. When Dave and I saw him
he had just come round, but was unable to speak due to all the tubes etc. We asked him if we could pray for him he nodded yes. We held his hand and prayed for his healing. He mouthed ‘Amen’ at the end. The doctors said that if he survived he would be in hospital for at least 3-6 months.
But Eric started to make a miraculous recovery and was out of hospital 3 1/2 weeks later. The doctors were amazed and couldn't believe it. Hallelujah, is God fantastic!
While Eric was in hospital we gave him some reading material containing real life stories of people who had come to know the Lord and "on your marks " booklet. (the old Journey into life booklet and St Mark’s gospel) which he read, we prayed with him a lot while he was in hospital. A couple of weeks ago he
talked about how he loved Jesus and that He had given him a new life and a second chance and he wanted to change his life around. Could he be baptised?
Then a guy named Frank, who we have fed a few times came along with Eric to meet us for coffee. He asked if could come to church and watch Eric be baptised. As we started talking with Eric about the Lord and the Baptismal service, and about the old life being buried and being raised with Christ, Frank said, I want to change my life around, could I get baptised, we explained
about being a Christian and what it meant to have Jesus in your heart, we prayed the sinners prayer which he also prayed and he gave his life to Jesus in the middle of the French cafe in the Market Square! He was crying his eyes out, the power and presence of the Lord was so strong; Eric was crying too, after we had finished praying Frank said Phew, he could feel the power of God!
Both Eric and Frank were baptised at Shaftesbury Christian Centre on Sunday 2nd May, 2004.
