New Christian
Rwanda was as jungle-green as I remembered, but hotter. Our normal accommodation was being painted, so we downgraded to another guesthouse, whose two redeeming features were Dorothy, the maid-of-all-work, and that we were the only ones there. Both allowed us the run of the place, which, given the size of our rooms and the need to boil water in the kitchen to take a shower, was just as well. Accommodation is limited and pricey in Kigali, and when the hordes of foreigners
2006 begins with a bang!
descend on the country for Hope:Rwanda from April to July both prices and tempers could rise! Which is one reason for our being there. However, we soon discovered that all was not well with the organisation. Miscommunication was to blame as ever, and a 5 hour session with the steering committee helped to calm fears and incite some action. There is a huge amount to do. On the personal front, we have not found a house or a car yet, so please pray for the Lord's provision for these things.
Preaching again!
While there, I had the chance to preach on the Sunday, and saw 40 make decisions for Jesus. On the way out I had also been invited to speak at Teresia Wairemu's Faith Evangelistic Ministry in Nairobi. These people have vision! It was a privilege to minister to 5000 people in their half-built church where several were saved and healed, and they have invited me back next August!
From Rwanda I made my way via too many planes to Madurai for a crusade. It was great to meet up with Roz again, with John Arul, and to see the children and all the changes to the orphanage after 15 months. That work continues to explode as other ministries invest into the buildings and very generous donors give land. The latest acquisition is a stunningly beautiful fruit-farm of ten acres an hour out of town. John is very keen to see the work self-funding as far as possible.
The four-day crusade on the edge of town was small but successful, with about 50 coming forward each night, of which many were brand new believers! Roz prayed and the
Lord healed, including one lady whose leg had been injured on a building site - completely whole, and rejoicing!
Suberb School of Healing in Pune
Finally I flew to Pune for a School of Healing. It was packed with 450 Word-hungry people. Many declared that it had been life-changing. Others said they had never heard such teaching, which is itself a tragedy, as surely healing should be an integral part of the church’s ministry and every believer’s personal experience.
At the start the Lord gave words of knowledge, and one lady came forward with a painful left foot. We ministered to her,and soon she was in tears. She cried for 15 minutes, when suddenly her face transformed and she radiated joy! And her foot was healed as well! I said goodbye to her three days later, and she was still beaming!
An elderly lady had wanted to attend, but had a large tennis-ball-sized goitre. She wanted to cancel in order to go to the hospital, but David persuaded her to come to the School. When two delegates prayed for her, the goitre disappeared completely and instantly!
Later we sent the delegates into the streets and hospitals, and the testimonies...! Lumps had disappeared, eyes healed, crippled walked, children were healed from fevers, a lady bed-ridden for 6 months got up. And many were led to Jesus! It was an awesome School I will never forget. It also brought many invitations from pastors who attended from other cities. My soul is singing!
