LIFE college student  leads young man to Christ
Testimony of Salvation!
In November, 2007, Regan Zander, one of our LIFE Leadership College students put into practice the techniques he had learned at college, and led a total stranger to Jesus!
John Fergusson teaches evangelism at the college, and one of the methods he teaches is the use of a handy script in order to share the gospel with strangers. Most of our students cringe at the idea of ‘going fishing’, and especially with a prepared script. ‘Old-fashioned’, ‘cheesy’, ‘will never work’ are some of the comments. But both last year and again this year, when we sent students into the streets during classes, they returned rejoicing, with several clear decisions for Christ! Regan was one of their number.
He picks up the story:-
“Just one week after our evangelism escapade  I was in Melbourne for work. I didn’t really look forward to it as I was only going to be there for two hours and then come straight back.
“After arriving I went up to the Qantas lounge to wait for my flight. I someone managed to make a fool of myself, so I left. I know looking back it was God working. Because I then went up to the First Class lounge where surprisingly there was no one else there. I went and had a shower and while I was in the shower, God prompted me to use the script on the man at the desk. I was incredibly apprehensive as I didn’t want to make a fool of myself twice! So when I finished I went up to the desk and asked him, ‘Do you know that Jesus loves you.’ His name was James, he is only twenty-four, and he began to cry which took me aback. I did the whole script, and he made a decision for Christ right there.
“He then went on to say that he had been to church before but was not a Christian. His sister had only died two days earlier. He prayed in the morning telling God that if he didn’t show that he was real by the end of the day, he was going to give up on the idea of God. It was eleven o’clock and he was waiting on another staff member who was supposed to relieve him ten minutes earlier.
“I then realised that salvation can happen anywhere and that God relies on me to ask the question. I may well have had his eternity in my hands. I learnt it is so simple to just ask the question.”
