As a member of Gospel Faith Messenger Ministry, I attended the 2008 Conference held in Hamilton New Zealand on July 11 and 12. The conference was entitled, “Exploring the Mysteries of Divine Healing” with John Fergusson as guest speaker. John really has got a handle on divine healing, which began with his association with Reinhard Bonnke for many years.
During the first day, John encouraged those attending to participate in a practical exercise. He asked us to set up in groups of three. Within each group we were to ask each other what need we had for healing.
I had been suffering for quite a long time with recurrent pain in the small of my back. This often made it painful for me to get out of bed and to sit and stand from a chair. The pain caused little discomfort while standing or walking but bending over weeding the garden or mowing lawns often became so bad I had pain down the back of my right leg.
The other two in my group prayed for my healing in the authority of the name of Jesus Christ, commanding all parts of my back to come under His authority. I felt nothing but I was instantly healed. I give God the glory.
In the intervening time, I have had one or two twinges of that old pain. On each occasion I confessed my healing by the power of God and told the evil one that I would not accept the return of his pain and the cause of it. The pain immediately went.
The following Sunday I was preaching in my church and shared some of what had happened at the conference. After the service a young lady came to me with a swollen and painful right wrist and sore ankles and asked for me to pray for her. I prayed that in the authority of the name of Jesus that ever cause of discomfort and pain and swelling be gone and very muscle, sinew, cartilage and bone come back in order and under the authority of Jesus Christ. She was immediately healed and was able to fully rotate her wrist.
Through John’s teaching at the conference I learned of the authority we have been given in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and the power in it. I also learned to speak to the problem, whatever it may be, and also to listen to the voice of God for underlying issues which may be the root of the problem.
Thank you, John, for all that you had to say as you “unpacked” the mysteries of divine healing. I have made a start and will continue to do what Jesus called us to do!
