A cameo of the altar call on the final day in Nepalgunj is fixed forever in my mind. Among the crowd in front of the platform two ladies stood side-by-side proudly clutching their So What Happened? booklets. One was a Hindu, with red forehead mark and gold jewellery, the other a Muslim in full black. Both were gazing rapt at the miracle stories unfolding in front of them. Thank you, Father, for sending us!
But the three nights of meetings had begun with holy chaos! No sooner had Roz taken the microphone to preach when a lady in the 5,000-strong crowd screamed and rolled on the ground. People stood and flapped their hands at her in alarm. Our trained volunteers quickly conveyed her to the deliverance tent, but in a moment there was another. Then another! Soon people were manifesting all over the ground and our transport team were kept on the run for the whole meeting! We had hit a veritable nest of demons, and the power of the Lord Jesus was being made clear to all.
When the healings began, however, the nervous crowd relaxed and leant forward in keen anticipation. Healing followed healing. A man declared his stomach pains were instantly gone. Another could walk upright. A man deaf in his left ear demonstrated his new hearing. The crowd cheered and the testimony queue grew beyond our ability to record.
Roz took a hasty altar call as transport was leaving, and about two hundred precious souls were added to the kingdom!
The next night it was my turn, and although the crowd was down slightly (we later heard why – religious agitators had clashed in another part of town). The evenings were also unseasonably hot, and we were all melting. A similar number were saved on the second night, and many healed too. But the best story we discovered later.
On a rooftop some distance away, a family was listening to the message from our good sound system. When I prayed for the sick, four of them were instantly healed, one of a bad leg, one stomach problems, and a third of a heart condition! They were so impacted
that the householder came to the ground, found a pastor and invited him back to tell his family more about this Jesus! Formerly anti-Christian, they now declared they wanted to start attending church!
On the final night the miracles were again outstanding, with several deaf and blind people healed, a girl who had been carried to the meeting was walking normally, and a man proudly stomped around carrying his red crutches in the air!
The final altar call was river of people, and it seemed almost half the crowd surged forward to receive Jesus. Altogether about 1,000 gave their lives to the Lord, for which we rejoice with the angels.
